This page is going to develop into a proper project page when the Kickstarter launches, and if it’s funded we’ll add a blog for regular development updates, but right now it’s only here to convince you to help us with the Kickstarter.
If you think this is a dumb idea, okay. Surely some people will. But the hope is that you’re excited about the idea and that you can picture a time in your life when you would have loved to use the site—and if that’s the case, maybe you’re down to help us get it kicked off.
There are three ways to help:
1. Spread the world.
This is simple and yet it’s also the most important thing. Tweet the link out, mention it in your blog, whatever—the more eyes we get on the project, the more buzz, the better off we’ll be. Of course, if you’re reading this, the Kickstarter page doesn’t exist yet (because of #2 and #3), so you can’t just tweet about it right this second. But if you tell us you will, we’ll e-mail you the day it goes live.
2. Help with the Kickstarter video.
A good Kickstarter video goes a long way towards getting people excited. It would be absolutely incredible if we got some people to send us a short video clip talking about the collaborative process or just making stuff in general. These need not be a big deal. Talking into a laptop webcam is a-okay. We could then edit these clips very sexily into the larger video.
3. Help with the Kickstarter rewards.
This is a bit more involved, but you could donate something simple specifically for a Kickstarter reward level—if you’re a visual artist, you can make an exclusive wallpaper, for instance. If you’re a musician, you could give us a song. You know what you have to offer. I know, it’s potentially a lot. But it’s an option you have available to you, should you really feel like you want to be involved.
Will we still do the Kickstarter without any support from any of you? Totally. But we want to set ourselves up for success, and getting your help is our best case scenario. If any of these sound like things you’d like to do, you can shoot an e-mail our way at hello@make-machine.com.
